Week 52 & the end of the year - December 22 - December 31

Sunday we took our "traditional" Sunday Christmas picture. I realized that I do have a lot of traditional pictures that I like to take every year. {I just really love pictures}. I love these boys!

After church, we decided to have our traditional Christmas Eve dinner. It was SO yummy!! We had way too much food and it was all delicious.

Monday I baked ALL day long. It was the first day I had work off and I decided to make almost everything I had been meaning to make all month. {I lot of the stuff was for neighbors and friends for gifts}. I was EXHAUSTED by the time the day was over. Tanner had to go to the mall that night to sing with his choir and Jason came home from work not feeling well. {we determined within a few hours that he had a kidney stone}.

Jason had a rough night trying to pass a kidney stone, but he took some medication and we decided to go to our Christmas Eve dinner at the Saatkamps. We had a good time {Jason slept most of the time}, we ate, played the candy bar game and exchanged presents. We love spending time with our adopted family.

We had been invited to another party, but decided not to go because Jason was feeling terrible. We came home and opened our Christmas Eve PJ's and watched a movie. We tried to get Tanner to bed early {yeah right}, but he finally went to bed about 11:30.

Tanner woke up at 5:30am, we had told him that he couldn't wake us up until 6am {really we told him 8am, but we knew it would be 6am}. We made him wait until 6am, but finally gave in and let him come downstairs. We opened all our presents and were done by about 7:30am. I had a terrible headache {probably because I hadn't slept good for several nights and Jason still wasn't feeling great}. Tanner spent the rest of the day playing is new Playstation 4 and Jason and I slept. We had a very good Christmas, even though we were all a little under the weather.

I woke up the next day with a terrible sore throat and ear ache, Jason finally passed his kidney stone. He was feeling better. I was feeling worse...we both took the day off and did nothing all day. It was nice. I made me some homemade chicken noodle soup, with homemade noodles {which Tanner informed me that he does NOT like}. Oh well, I did and it tasted so yummy on my sore throat.

Friday I was feeling a little better. I needed to do a few things at work so I went in for a few hours. Jason gets off early on Friday and I left a little early. We had already planned to drop Tanner off at a friends house to spend the night, so we dropped him off and then decided to go to the zoo to see the holiday lights. It was such a fun {and pretty warm} night. The lights were so pretty and I loved the giraffes and the baby monkey.

Saturday was our anniversary. We woke up early and went downtown to "The Bongo Room" for breakfast. It was DELICIOUS!!! After breakfast we went to Millennium Park to see "the bean" and then went to Macy's to see the giant tree. We had a wonderful day together. It was beautiful and 50 degrees. We enjoyed soaking up the sunshine and being together to celebrate our anniversary.

I got this really cool bun sock for Christmas....I LOVE how it makes my hair look so full! {this was just before we went to bed and it still looked pretty good after wearing it all day}

We decided to go see "Catching Fire" at the Tivoli for Family Home Evening. It was really good. {I LOVED her dresses that caught fire, they were so cool!}

My house is little and by the time Christmas is over I am tired of my Christmas stuff all over the house. I came home from work today and the boys helped me take it all down and put it away. It is so nice to have the house all cleaned up and everything put back if I could just get rid of the rest of the holiday food. Tanner went to his friends house for the evening, so Jason and I watched movies and waited for midnight. He made me an AWESOME dinner of steak and shrimp and we enjoyed our evening relaxing together.

I haven't decided if I'm going to do my 365 pictures the same next year. I've been thinking of lot of other options....we'll see in the next couple of days....I don't know if I can NOT take a pictures every day now. {I've done it for 5 years!}

Week 51 - December 15 - 21

I finished up the Webb's gift and took it over to them today {they are going to San Diego for Christmas}, I love how it turned out....and Mike gave me a 24 pack of Diet Coke. {he knows me so well}.

I LOVE that my mailbox is FULL of holiday cards. It's one of my favorite things about the holidays!!

Tanner has been complaining of a sore throat a LOT for the last month so I decided to take him to see his GI doctor. She put him back on his acid reflux medicine to see if that helps. We will see her again in a month to see how he is doing.

I was invited to a "girlfriends favorite things" holiday party. Basically, you take a gift that is one of your favorite things and then we play the "white elephant" game to exchange them. It's so much fun and I had a great time planning what I was going to take....I thought it was a perfect depiction of one of my favorite things. If you want to make one, the instructions are HERE.

My visiting teacher stopped by the office today. They really are the best! She brought me a raspberry diet coke and some ornaments and an awesome Christmas candle.

The "favorite things" holiday party was SO fun. I love the friendships I share with all the ladies in the ward. {I had gone to the dentist earlier in the day and was on some pain medicine so I was a little loopy at the party and didn't take any pictures of actual people ;) but her house was adorable}

We had the opportunity to help deliver food and presents to some needy families on Saturday. It was such a fun experience for our family. We will do it again next year. We delivered to two different families and are so grateful that we could help pay it forward a little and make someones holiday a little brighter.

Week 50 - December 8 - 14

I think I wore the wrong shoes today.....what do you think?

I LOVE my Christmas books. We are supposed to read one every night, but somehow we never seem to make it happen....dang I wish this time of year wasn't so busy.....or maybe I just nee to adjust my priorities....or both....hmmmm??

Tonight we went out to deliver some neighbor gifts. I made these EASY simmering potpourri kits. Tanner went caroling with YM and YW and Jason and I delivered them. It was a fun night.

The DGS Holiday Concert was this week too. {can we please plan a few more things the first two weeks of December?}. It was a very good concert except that it was help in the gym because it's SO big that it won't fit anywhere else and we had to sit on the bleachers for 1 1/2 hours and my behind was SO sore and tired {and my back was killing me}....but the kids were AMAZING, the orchestra and band were so good and the choir did some really fun songs. I'm grateful that Tanner loves choir so much and that they have such a good time together.

I've been working on a few sewing projects {that NEED to get in the mail ASAP!} and while I was working tonight I broke the blade on my serger. Luckily it is only $23 to fix and I already ordered the part and it wasn't two nights ago....because I probably would have lost it two nights ago....tonight I just laughed....because really, what else can go wrong????

In the middle of our crazyness, Jason and I took a few minutes to grab some Pei Wei {because I had a coupon} and we had a great night together. After dinner he came home and helped me wrap all the out of state presents. He's a keeper!

I was bound and determined that I was going to get my packages mailed by the end of this week. It was a struggle {especially since 1/2 of them weren't even made at the beginning of the week}, but I needed them done and I needed to move forward with something I worked as hard as I possibly could and FINALLY got them in the mail about 6pm Saturday night.....good thing for the Automatic Postage Machines.....because I would never have made it by 3pm.

Week 49 - December 1 - 7

How in the world is it December???????

Jason's friend Dan has been building this model airplane for Jason for over a year {maybe two}, he finally finished it and gave it to Jason today at church......holy wow, that is a LOT of work. Every detail is there. It's pretty amazing. Jason loves it.

I've been working on some Christmas gifts for a few clients. I made these watch bands for one of them and I LOVE how they turned out. {I love the new beads that Joann's and Hobby Lobby have, so much more makes me miss the bead store a little less....just a little}.

I FOUND THEM!!! I have looked EVERYWHERE for GOOD cinnamon bears. Soft and chewy and hot enough that they really taste like cinnamon....and I found Hobby Lobby of all places...they are AWESOME....and very hot, but I love them!!! {and I got to use my coupon on them too because everything else I was buying was already on sale!}

All this hair is SO much work..but man do I love it, really...I am SO grateful to have been blessed withe AWESOME hair!

Just as I was leaving for work this morning a neighbor approached me in the parking lot and asked if I had jumper cables. I was happy to help. It was raining {I had just curled all that hair}, I was wearing a skirt that got soaking wet and I got my hands filthy dirty, but I was happy to help. I've been there before and I know how frustrating it is to be stuck.

FINALLY,  I have all my cards ready to mail. I don't know what happened in November, but I just never got them done {working full time is really hard to get used to}....I was planning on sending them out just after Thanksgiving so I'm only a week late....sigh. {I feel like I'm always about a week late}

Meagan and I have been getting ready for a little holiday craft fair {maybe why I feel like I'm a week late for everything} was Friday and Saturday....and was a lot of fun! {we are pretty dangerous together...and see that red wreath, yeah....I kept it and it's adorable on my front door!!

Tonight was our ward Christmas party. We live in the BEST ward ever!!! Seriously. It's AMAZING!! I helped with the "Santa pictures" and had a lot of fun with my reindeer nose and antlers. The decorations were great and it was a fun night together!

Week 48 - November 24 - 30

I made the boys take pictures with me today. They LOVED playing with all Tanner's "props" from his room. They are goofy! After pictures we took them for a little driving tour of the city. {Ryan has to leave right after sacrament meeting so we didn't have any other time}. The only mistake we made was that we didn't take any food with us! {those boys are always hungry}. I Loved having them with me at church. We had such a great visit this past weekend, but it was too short...I guess they will have to come back again!!

I took the Bennett's pictures today. We've been trying to take them for a couple of years and each time something comes up and we aren't able to make it happen....I'm so glad we finally got them done this year!! {and I love how they turned out!}

I feel like I just made a bunch of food, but now it's time for Thanksgiving and I have to make a bunch more food....I actually love baking and cooking, but once I get started sometimes I just can't stop. I made a fresh apple pie, with fresh filling and homemade pie crust {the boys are loving all my practicing}, rolls, pumpkin bars {into cupcakes} and cracker toffee. It was all delicious! {and I am half crazy}.

Thanksgiving morning dawned bright and early with the Bonfield 5k Turkey Trot. It was Jason's first 5k and I was excited to see if I could get a better time. My only complaint was that it was 20 degrees with a windchill of about 12 degrees and it was COLD! I started out with Jason and stayed with him for about 1/2 a mile and then I pulled ahead. I finished in 38:43 and Jason finished in 43:40. We were both happy with our times, especially in the cold and wind!!

After the race we went to Janet's house for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a great time being with their family. You can read about it HERE.

While we were reading the ads for Black Friday, I realized that Game Stop was going to get some Play Station 4 units....on our way home we went by to see how many people were there....not many....the boys went back about 8:30pm and sat in line until midnight....and they got one!!! {I have looked EVERYWHERE for one!!} Tanner already knew he was going to get it because he paid for 1/2 of it, but he was VERY disappointed that I would not let him have it that night!!! YEAH RIGHT!!!!

Friday and Saturday were both busy days for us....I knew we had to get a lot done because it was my only day off. We got all the Christmas out and put up {thanks to the boys for all the help carrying it all upstairs and putting up the tree}. It's BEAUTIFUL! {but, oh so much work!!}

On Saturday Jason and I went to the gym {we just signed up} and they kicked our hineys. It was just a consultation with the personal trainers, but man did they make us work, I was sore for DAYS!!

Week 47 - November 17 - 23

Today was a crazy, scary weather day. We were under a tornado threat all day and were not even sure that we should go to church. 24 tornadoes touched down in Illinois that day and destroyed 2,400 homes and killed 6 people. We are very blessed to have been kept safe from harm. After church, we went outside to see this big beautiful rainbow. Just another tender mercy from our Heavenly Father.

Jason bought me a Christmas cactus....I think he wants me to keep it alive at least until Christmas....I am wondering how well he knows me??? {it is pretty, I hope I don't kill it too quickly}

Helped out at activity days tonight. Those 8 yr olds made 79 bracelets in an hour. They are the SHARE program (for siblings of children who pass away at Edwards hospital).
#iliveinthebestward #service#myhandiskillingme #itwasworthit {My hand hurt for several days after!}

I was asked to babysit this sweet little boy while his parents went to the temple...only problem was, he HATED me....would have nothing to do with me, if I picked him up, he Jason watched him....for whatever reason he really liked Jason. ;)

I'm getting ready for some visitors. Hopefully some hungry visitors. I made them cinnamon rolls, pies and banana bread, not to mention several meals and they ate it all! {I knew they would!}

Jeff and Skylar got here Friday afternoon about 2:30. We picked up Tanner after school and went straight to Portillos. {Skylar's request} Ryan didn't get here until midnight so the boys spent their night playing video games and hanging out.

The boys got up Saturday morning to head to South Bend {the whole reason for the trip was the BYU vs. Notre Dame Game}. It was 20 degrees with a windchill of about 5 degrees at game time. It was the coldest it's been for a LONG time here....they all froze, but said they had a wonderful time at the game. They said it was one of the best football experiences they have had {might have been the great seats}! This was my facebook post: Off to the big game!!! Skylar has been waiting for this his whole life!! Jeff ,Ryan and Jason can't wait for the Cougars to beat the Irish!!! GO COUGARS!! {and try not to freeze to death!} #byucougars #fightingirish #brothersvisit #Chicago

Week 46 - November 10 - 16

Sunday night was our Stake YW in Excellence Program, "Think Pink". It was beautiful. They YW in our stake are so amazing and they have AMAZING leaders!!! {I think we might have had more leaders earn their young womanhood award than YW}. I'm grateful that I got to be a small part of such a wonderful night.

Remember those beautiful leaves I took pictures of last weekend....yeah, well now they have snow all over them! I am NOT ready for winter!!! {and I probably never will be} They are kindof pretty.

We have a class every month in our ward called "motherhood education". We talk about all sorts of things. It's usually a smaller more intimate group and I LOVE THEM! Tonight was at Meagan's house and it was so good. {and her house is SO cute!} I am so grateful for these inspired nights.

Jason brought me home a Christmas cactus....I think he expects me to keep it alive at least until Christmas. I don't think he knows me well enough if he thinks I'm going to keep it alive. I am not good with live plants. Children I can handle {so far}....but not plants.

Friday night we had "girls night out" and sang karaoke and played "just dance" was a HOOT! And what happens at "girls night" stays at girls night.

Saturday was a yucky weather day, but I had a photo shoot and we decided to go for it. {they turned out GREAT}. Everything is so pretty.

 Tanner had a speech competition and got 4th Place in Humerus Interpretation....and he got a medal.
